Want to be a web developer?

Ever think about whether or not working as a web developer is still a good idea? With all the tech jargon going around—AI, blockchain, you name it—it is easy to get confused. The thing is, web development is like that friend you can always count on to help you move. Even though you do not think about them often, they are very important when you need them!

We live in a digital world; let us face it. Websites and web apps are everywhere! There is a huge need for web developers right now, whether it is for a cozy blog about cooking or an e-commerce site.  All businesses, no matter how big or small, need people to set up and run their websites. And this is where we come in!

I remember feeling lost when I first started learning how to build websites. I was flooded with tools, frameworks, and language (it's a lot and overwhelming for a starter). But after a while, I realized that making something on the web is not just about writing code. It is about making experiences.

First off, web development is versatile. You can specialize in frontend (the part users see), backend (the magic), or even full-stack (a little bit of both!). It’s like being a superhero with different powers, depending on what you want to focus on. Plus, there are tons of resources available online, from free tutorials to courses, making it easier than ever to get started. Not to mention our good old friend from India who will teach us how it's done on Youtube. Haha!

But, of course, every superhero has their challenges. The tech world moves fast. What’s trendy today might be outdated tomorrow. But think of it this way: learning web development teaches you how to open our creative minds and bring up solutions for real-world problems. You will be shocked at how quickly you can learn new things, adjust to changes, and stay relevant in this fast-paced field.

I still remember my very first project, which was a simple website for a gadget store in Iligan. It made me feel like a magician starting a new show. I watched as my lines of code turned into real things. It was amazing! But, as with any new journey, there were some things that were hard. There were times when I felt like I had too much searching the web and was not sure if I would ever figure it out.

The really cool thing is that every challenge taught me something useful. Every little win brought me more of what I loved, whether it was fixing bugs or figuring out how to make a site work on mobile phones, etc. There is something great about web development: you can always learn something new.

If you are Filipino, you have a huge advantage in the world of web development. Filipinos are known for being creative and good at English, which are both huge pluses in this field. Many companies from other countries want to hire Filipino web developers because we are skilled and can communicate well. Also, it costs less to live in the Philippines, so businesses can often find skilled developers at prices that are competitive.

People who work in this field can connect with clients all over the world and work on a wide range of projects from home, which can be very exciting. Whether you want to work for someone else or for yourself, web development opens up a lot of doors and lets you work on projects that really matter.

Wrap it up

Is web development still relevant now? Of course! As long as there are browsers installed in our devices (and trust me, there will be), the demand for skilled web developers will remain strong. I think you should go for it if you want to get into this field.

Take the time to learn and enjoy the process. Remember that everyone started out as a beginner. You never know; your work could lead to the next big thing. Okay, time to crack those codes!
